How can heavy rain and flood risks be considered in the planning process of an inner-city district? Which climate adaptation measures can be implemented in existing buildings? These and other questions were discussed in the simulation game on climate adaptation, urban development and flood prevention in the city of Esslingen. The simulation was prepared and moderated by INFRASTRUKTUR & UMWELT.

15 participants from different offices of the city administration of Esslingen as well as from the regional council of Stuttgart discussed the possibilities and obstacles for an urban redevelopment of a district in Esslingen. In the process, numerous proposals for measures and suggestions for optimizing processes and procedures in the city administration were collected. The simulation was observed by a representative from the ARL working group on climate-adapted urban and regional development.
